IMERO's e-label.eu is an established e-label platform for wine. Both IMERO and Glasswise deliver fully EU-compliant e-labels with all required nutrition, ingredient, and allergen information. Compliance is the foundation for both. The difference is what each platform builds on top of that foundation.

Disclosure: This article is written by the Glasswise team. We encourage you to evaluate both platforms.

Glasswise or IMERO: which should you choose?

Both platforms deliver fully EU-compliant wine e-labels with the required nutrition, ingredient, and allergen data. IMERO is built for speed: fast setup, geolocation-based language display, and collective QR codes for price lists. Glasswise adds custom brand design, a central wine data hub you keep reusing, marketing redirects from the QR code, and a redirect guarantee if you ever switch. Choose IMERO if speed is the priority. Choose Glasswise if brand, data ownership, and marketing matter to you.

Approach

IMERO (e-label.eu) focuses on speed and simplicity. It gets your compliant e-labels created quickly with geolocation-based language display in all EU languages, QR codes, and a complete service where IMERO creates your e-labels for you.

Glasswise builds on the same compliance foundation and adds brand design and central data management. Your wine data lives in Glasswise and flows into branded e-labels, data sheets, and marketing QR destinations.

Unique features

IMERO's standout: Collective QR codes for price lists. You can create a single QR code that links to an entire price list rather than individual wines. This is useful for restaurants and wine shops.

Glasswise's standout: "Scan with Glasswise" turns the mandatory QR code into a marketing channel. After viewing the e-label, customers can be redirected to your website, online shop, or a custom landing page.

Design

IMERO provides functional e-labels with a standard layout. The focus is on correctness and compliance more than visual branding.

Glasswise offers full custom design: your colors, typography, imagery, and storytelling sections. Each winery's e-label is unique and matches its brand identity.

What happens to your data and your QR codes over time?

Your wine data belongs to you and stays centrally usable in Glasswise. Enter it once, and it flows into every e-label, data sheet, and marketing destination. Your printed QR code is built on GS1 Digital Link, a vendor-independent identifier that belongs to your product and stays platform-independent. The GS1 Conformant Resolver Standard (Release 1.2.0, ratified January 2026) states that the redirect target of a GS1 Digital Link can be updated at any time without reprinting the code on the product. If you ever leave Glasswise, we redirect your codes to your new destination rather than leaving you stranded.

How to switch from IMERO to Glasswise

In most cases switching costs you zero reprints. Your printed QR code stays valid, you only repoint the destination behind it, and we handle the data migration. It is usually done in a few days.

Here is how it works:

  1. Start a trial. Set up a free account and run your wines through it before you change anything.
  2. Send your data, we migrate it. Send us your existing e-label data in any format. Our team handles the migration at no extra cost.
  3. Keep your QR identity, repoint the destination. If your code points through a redirect layer (a URL shortener, your own domain, or a GS1 Digital Link), you repoint it to Glasswise yourself. If it points directly at a provider domain, our team helps you request the redirect cleanly.
  4. Scan real bottles. As a check, scan a few bottles from the cellar. If everything resolves, you are done.

The full details and the written commitments are on our switching page. For how a printed code survives the move technically, see how to switch e-label provider without reprinting and why a URL shortener makes the difference.

Which one is right for you?

Choose IMERO if you want a fast, lean setup, need collective QR codes for price lists, or prefer a no-frills path to compliance.

Choose Glasswise if you want custom-branded e-labels, want your wine data kept central and reusable, want marketing from your QR codes, or value portability with a redirect guarantee.
